Samurai Siege is a combat simulation game created by Space Ape Games. You oversee the development of a village, including its resources and samurai troops, all of which go into a larger war effort. Quick Start Guide

Getting Started

  • Samurai Siege is free to play. You can download it by clicking the “Available on” button for your platform of choice at the top of this page.
  • When you first begin playing Samurai Siege, you’ll be asked if you’d like to receive push notifications. You can change this setting at any time.
  • A brief tutorial kicks off the game by showing you the functions of the buildings and the basics of combat.
  • Once the tutorial is done, you’re left alone to build up your village and army.

How to Play

  • Objective – Samurai Siege begins with a ninja attack on your village. You must rebuild, and then you must beef up your own army and retaliate. Becoming a successful warlord involves shoring up your village’s defenses, building structures that generate resources and income, and launching attacks against enemy forces. You can also attack other players’ villages for resources and honor (the higher your honor, the more challenging your multiplayer match-ups will become).
  • Your Village – Your village is your base of operations. This is where you train your troops and generate resources necessary for battle. Your village can fall under attack, so it’s important to strengthen your defenses.
  • Diamonds – Diamonds are Samurai Siege‘s hard currency, meaning they’re most easily obtained with real-world cash via in-app purchasing. Diamonds can be used to speed up tasks that take time to complete.
  • Menu – You can access the menu at any time with the “menu” button on the lower left-hand side of the screen. You can view your ranking, keep track of your loot, view your social options, and change your game settings, including the music and sound effect volumes.

Coins and Essence

  • Build for Coins – Coins are vital for building your town’s defenses, as well as some buildings that produce resources. You win coins through battle, and your village’s market can generate them as well.
  • Train for Essence – Essence comes from the essence well located in the middle of your village. Essence gathers there automatically. Harvest it regularly to train your troops.

Buildings and Defense

  • Dojo – The dojo lets you queue up and train warriors. When a warrior is trained, he or she waits in the practice yard until he or she is deployed.
  • Essence Well – Essence slowly accumulates in the essence well. Essence is necessary for training troops. Each soldier type requires differing amounts of essence.
  • Castle – Upgrade your castle to unlock new buildings. Defending your castle during an enemy attack is vital, as the battle ends if it falls.
  • Coin Vault – Coins generated by the market are held in the coin vault. Spoils of war end up here, too. The higher the vault’s level, the more money it can store.
  • Market – The market generates coins over time. You need to have space in your coin vault before you can collect the market’s payout.
  • Practice Yard – When your troops exit the dojo, they head for the training yard. The higher your yard’s level, the more warriors it can hold.
  • Defensive Structures – Defensive structures like walls, cannons, and archer towers are gradually unlocked as you defeat enemies. They’re what stand between you and destruction when the enemy comes knocking.
  • Upgrade – Most of the buildings in Samurai Siege can be upgraded at the cost of coins, essence, or diamonds. Upgrading a building makes it stronger, and enlarges its storage capacity when applicable.

Training Your Troops

  • Hold to Train – Press down on a fighter’s portrait to train members of that troop. You can speed up the training process with Diamonds.
  • Complete Missions, Unlock Warriors – You begin the game with lowly foot soldiers, which are cheap and quick to train. As you progress through Samurai Siege and complete missions, you’re given the option to train more specialized warriors.

Battles

  • Attack! – Are you just going to arrange flowers while your enemies run rampant across the countryside? Didn’t think so. When you’re in your village, tap the “battle” button to launch the battle screen. Choose if you want to engage in one of Samurai Siege‘s single-player campaign fights, or a multiplayer battle.
  • Deploy – To deploy, select your desired unit from the bottom of the screen. Then hold down anywhere outside the town’s red line to send your troops into action. The longer you hold down, the more troops are deployed.
  • Spoils for the Victor – Once a town’s defenses are sheared and its castle is destroyed, you’re usually rewarded for your victory with essence and coins.

Multiplayer

  • Launch an Attack – If you want to play against a real-world opponent, choose the “multiplayer” option in the battle screen. Fighting real-world enemies takes coins. If you don’t like the look of one player’s keep, you can attack another, though you have to pay another fee.
  • For Honor – Fighting multiplayer battles awards you with honor, which in turn lets you face stronger opponents.

Tips

  • Join an Alliance – Try joining an alliance by choosing “Join an Alliance!” from the left side of the screen. Alliances let you communicate with fellow guild members and collect more diamonds, coins, and essence. Teams can also fight one another for recognition on the game’s leaderboards.
  • Divide Your Troops – Your troops aren’t particularly smart, so be careful how you divide them up. Don’t send them off in a clump; split them up to take out archer towers and other defenses.
  • Don’t Overdo Deployment – All of your soldiers disappear when a battle is over, regardless of whether or not they’re wounded. Don’t overdo deployment; see if a small battalion can get the job done. If you over-deploy too often, you’ll waste money and time.
